Is your ward sister/charge nurse an inspirational leader? The Nursing Standard Ward Sister Award is an exciting opportunity for ward teams to nominate their ward sister/charge nurse for a prestigious healthcare award.

Sponsored by the Healthcare Foundation, the aim of this award is to recognise and reward outstanding ward leaders who excel in delivering safe, high quality patient care.

Entry criteria

Your nomination will need to satisfy the following criteria. You must be able to show that your ward sister/charge nurse:

Has significantly improved the quality of care for patients, for example in terms of safety, clinical effectiveness and patient experience
Shows clear continued commitment to staff learning and development to ensure that ward team members have the skills and knowledge they need to provide safe and effective clinical care
Has played a leading role in influencing change and implementing new ideas to improve nursing practice
Demonstrates leadership and management skills
Is a clinical role model who demonstrates clinical expertise in delivering patient-centred and evidence-based nursing care

Judging

Judging will take place on Thursday October 8 2009. A winner and a runner will be selected. Entrants will be notified by Friday October 16 2009. Click here for judging information
